| The writer Dr Naim Araidy was born in Maghar village on April 2nd 1950. He was educated at the village elementary school and afterwards moved to Haifa to complete his secondary education. Through this he gained two B.A. degrees - the first in Hebrew Language and Political Science and another in Hebrew Literature and Comparative Literature. He followed this with an M.A. in Hebrew Literature and Comparative Literature at Haifa university, and went on to achieve a Ph.D. in Hebrew Literature at Bar-Ilan University.
He worked as a teacher and lecturer at the Universities of Haifa and Bar-Ilan before moving on to Gordon College and the Arab College for Education in Israel � Haifa. At present he is the Director of the Children�s Literature Centre at the Arab College and the Co-ordinator of Studies for the non-Jewish students at Gordon College.
As well as teaching Dr. Araidy also works in journalism and presents two weekly programmes on Channel 2 � a children�s programme and a news programme.
With respect to his editorial work, he participated in editing the magazine of the Hebrew Writers Union �Mifgash�. He also established and was editor of �Al-Aswar� magazine.
Dr Naim Araidy went on to claim local and international awards and was granted two honorary Ph.D.s from an American and a European University.
His work which was originally written in Hebrew and Arabic, has now been translated into many other languages. His works include writings in the fields of Children�s Literature, Criticism, Poetry and Research. |
